Who is Joe Sak?

Hard at work

Hard at work

I am a full-time developer at Neoteric Design, Inc.

I am living, loving, working, cycling, fighting, dreaming, and winning in Chicago, IL. I work primarily with Rails/HTML5/CSS3/jQuery, I’m a usability enthusiast, a proud mac user, I support the agile manifesto, and I promote the guidance of books like Getting Real.

My personal interests include: riding bikes, learning science, reading non-fiction, cooking, playing with my dog, spending quality time with friends & family, music and playing the drums.

What do my colleagues and clients say?

“Joe is excellent. He’s so great to work with. I’ve been working with him professionally for year and it’s nice to be able to trust someone to just get the job done. Joe is my first choice when it comes to getting my projects developed, because I trust him to finish the project with the best possible results, and he’s fast. But even more, he cares about my project. I think that’s rare. To me he comes across as one of those guys who, no matter what he touches, he wants to make sure it’s done well.” – Dan Dyer, CardsInk.com

“Joe is very passionate about web development and learning new technologies that promote best practices in design, efficiency and usability. He is very resourceful, taking it upon himself to learn new techniques as needed for the task at hand.” – Chris Bachelder, Director of Web Development, Artemis Solutions Group

“I met Joe through my work as initially Senior User Experience Architect; now Principle, User Experience. I was immediately impressed with his passion for advocating the user primarily, which allowed him to interface directly and fluidly with his UX counterparts in addition to his design counterparts. Joe is much like myself in the sense that he looks at his work not merely as a job but as a practice and discipline. That said, he tirelessly works to improve his knowledge, his skillsets and his ability to work well with other disciplines through active participation and understanding. In sharing his outside work, it become immediately apparent that his value to Sears would be on-going – especially when considering the directions we are heading in terms of enterprise level and technical architecture level evolution cycles.” -Michael Simborg, Principle User Experience Architect, Sears Holding Corporation

“It has been my pleasure to work with Joe on several occasions. As both a listener and a contributor, Joe is exceptionally gifted in offering simple and elegant solutions to problems. And Joe’s dedication and hard work produce great results.” -Nina Bieliauskas, Senior UX, Sears Holding Corporation

“Whenever I’m asked if Joe was of assistance, I eagerly respond, ‘Yes!’ It’s like Christmas when Joe visits because we always learn something. He resolves our problems within minutes with a ready solution.”

- Yolaundra Johnson, Data Processing Principal Programmer/Analyst, City of Detroit ITS

“Joseph Sak, the Web Developer on the project was a true, dedicated partner in this process. His know-how, as well as friendly and approachable nature made the project not only seamless from a development side, but truly fun and exciting to work on.”

- Brendan Dwyer, Manager, Marketing Communications, Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors’ Bureau

Joe added so much more value to our project than the work for which we hired him. He’s a talented developer and expert in DNN, but he brought many other skills to the table as well. He has a keen eye for User Interface issues, which is usually a skill set you hire in and of itself. In addition, his skills reach into marketing and search optimization, as evidenced by the jump in site activity we received purely as a bonus for having Joe launch our new, DNN site. He guided me, a very non-technical person, through the process, and he wasn’t happy until it was perfect in my eyes. It’s rare to find people that stick with a job to the extent that Joe did.
